Total War: WARHAMMER Wiki

Talabecland is a province introduced in Total War: Warhammer in The Old World campaign.

In the Doomsayers Update for Total War: Warhammer II it received an update with new settlements in Mortal Empires.

Background[]

Talabecland is a founding Electoral Province of The Empire, ruled by Grand Duke Helmut Feuerbach. The provincial capital city is Talabheim, a large city-state built inside a titanic meteorite crater miles upon miles wide. The geographic centre of the Empire, it is a sprawling province that borders almost every other, as well as Kislev. This central position, as well as the fact the great Stir and Talabec rivers run through it, has made Talabecland a major transit route for trade in the Empire, and its roads and ports are crowded with taverns and coach houses that in times of peace are filled with merchants and tradesmen of all kinds.

Talabecland almost entirely encompasses The Great Forest within its bounds, and its domestic economy and culture revolve heavily around it. Indeed the province is named after Taal, Imperial god of the wild, and most Talabeclanders consider him their primary deity even ahead of Sigmar. The Great Forest is not as dangerous as the Forest of Shadows or the Drakwald, and woodcutting, charcoal burning, hunting and farming all happen in quantity and relative sanctity under its boughs; however like every other large forest in the Empire it contains small tribes of Greenskins, Beastmen, bandits and worse things in its depths, particularly around the region known as the Barren Hills.

Talabeclanders are descendants of the Taleuten tribe, who founded Talabheim (then Taalahim) long before the time of Sigmar. They have a slight reputation for primitivism elsewhere in the Empire, however Talabheimers pride themselves on their ancestral forest craft, communal spirit and humility.
