Tepok's Spawn is a Lizardmen faction introduced in Total War: Warhammer III.

Background[]

The Lizardmen worship the deity Tepok as the Feathered Serpent God of the air and of sacred places, a powerful symbol of protection against harmful magic. The being is frequently referred to as 'inscrutable', a characteristic manifested in its followers, who exhibit an air of mysterious otherworldliness.

The feathered serpent totem creature is believed to refer to the Coatl, a mythical creature said to be a bizarre hybrid of serpent and bird, at times represented as a huge snake covered with brightly coloured feathers, at others as a snake with wide feathered pinions. These feathers are invariable represented as purple or deep blue, or a combination of the two and it has been reported by returning explorers that some Lizardmen sport feathers of this colour as a mark of rank or role, though most scholars refuse to believe they are from an actual Coatl, for surely such a creature must be extremely rare, if it even exists at all.

Strategy[]

As the starting enemies of the Poxmakers of Nurgle, Tepok's Spawn are unlikely to last any significant length of time in Immortal Empires, certainly without significant outside help from one of their neighbors such as the Knights of Caledor or the Caravan of Blue Roses. It is recommended that (assuming before Thrones of Decay DLC update), Kugath players should skip Tepok's Spawn and go for the bigger threat blocking him from expanding into the Darklands/Cathay that is Helman Ghorst while he is still weak.

In Realm of Chaos, however, Tepok's Spawn are the only Lizardmen faction on the map, and usually persist for quite a while despite their proximity to the unfriendly Legion of Azorgh. If a player can contact them in time, they may be able to woo them into an alliance to make use of Lizardmen units. As Tepok's Spawn only have one settlement in Realm of Chaos, they usually lack the Lizardmen's entire kit (often the Saurus chain), greatly limiting their effectiveness; however, they tend to like building the beast chain, allowing Kislev and Cathayans who can befriend them to tap certain very powerful units, most notably the Bastiladon (Revivification Crystal), the only unit that can revive destroyed models.
