This modified version of the Iron Daemon bears twin flame throwers instead of firing shrapnel into the foe's massed ranks. In case you're wondering which is worse, sharp metal fragments or blazing fire, believe me – it's fire!

The Daemon's Tongue – Dreadquake Mortar is a Chaos Dwarfs Regiment of Renown war machine unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer III with Forge of the Chaos Dwarfs.

Description[]

The Iron Daemon is one of the latest Daemon Engines created in the service of the Chaos Dwarfs. It is a mighty, smoke-belching powerhouse that fires blasts of shrapnel against enemy forces or crushes fortifications while towing up to two heavily-armed steam carriages. The boilers that provide these machines with motive power to haul heavy armaments and munitions to the battlefield are cunningly designed so that they can also be used to work pressure-fed weapons such as cannonades and wall-breakers. This means that every Iron Daemon is also a powerful war machine in its own right – a fully mobile artillery piece or murderous killing engine, able to smash through fortifications and hack down ranks of living soldiers with equal ease.

  • Armoured: Armoured units can block damage from any source apart from Armour-Piercing damage.
  • Hell-Forged: This unit can be restored in battle by the Daemonsmith's Reforge ability.
  • Armour-Piercing: The damage of armour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
  • Flaming Attacks: This unit inflicts flaming attacks. Units hit by flaming attack heal at half the usual rate whilst 'on fire' and sustain additional damage if vulnurable to fire.
