Just like the Emperor's boundless anger at those who would threaten his lands, this lurching mechanical beast steamrollers the opposition.

The Emperor's Wrath (Steam Tank) is an Empire Elector Count State Troop war machine unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer II with The Empire Undivided Update.

Recruitment[]

Description[]

Steam Tanks are monstrous, smoke-belching creations that rumble towards the enemy, firing deadly cannonballs from their steam-powered guns. A thick, armoured skin protects each Steam Tank and the advance of these iron behemoths is terrifying to behold; arrows and sword strokes rebound harmlessly from their hulls and enemy warriors are crushed beneath their immense bulk. Steam Tanks are armed with a steam-powered cannon that can fire a spinning ball of iron whirling into the foe's ranks. A turret-mounted gun is also standard, which can engulf nearby enemies in great gouts of scalding steam.

Attributes[]

  • War Machine
  • Armoured: Armoured units can block damage from any source apart from Armour-Piercing damage.
  • Armour-Piercing: The damage of armour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
  • Causes Terror: This unit can cause terror, making its melee target rout for a short time. Units that cause terror are immune to terror and fear themselves.
  • Unbreakable: This unit does not suffer any form of leadership loss and will never rout.

Strategy[]

The Emperor's Wrath is a steam tank with higher missile damage that also reduces enemy leadership ('discouraged effect'), the ability to cause close-range AoE damage ('emergency vent' spell) and an large AoE explosion when it is destroyed. Just like it's normal tier 5 iteration, The Emperor's Wrath retains the ability to absorb serious punishment, with the added bonus of being able to dish out solid amounts of AoE damage in close.

It requires an elector count to be assigned to Wissenland and can be recruited in both Karl Franz and Balthazar Gelt's campaigns in any campaign mode.
