The Holy Wardens of La Maisontaal (Battle Pilgrims) are a Bretonnia Regiment of Renown melee infantry unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer with the Foundation Update.
Recruitment[ | ]
Description[ | ]
The Holy Wardens are former grave wardens of the great La Maisontaal Abbey who fight alongside mighty Grail Knights, yearning to accrue relics and slivers of their glory. They wield powerful enchanted weapons, discarded by those Grail Knights whom they have fought alongside, which blaze with a bright and holy power.

Strategy[ | ]
These pilgrims wield dual flaming and magical swords, meaning their damage output is higher and they can ignore magic resistance/punish enemies with fire weakness (usually forest spirits or units who Regenerate) although they lose the missile parry from shields that the standard variant has. Because of this, they are vulnerable to being weakened by missile fire, do your besto protect this unit or capitalize on your enemy's attention being diverted to them.
The Wardens have high leadership which means that they will fight almost to the last man and makes them a useful alternative to the standard Bretonnian front line.
