The Maelstrom is a unique settlement building introduced in Total War: Warhammer II.
The sentient whirlpool at the centre of the Galleon's Graveyard pulls great sea-going vessels into its gaping maw, wherein Noctilus bides his time and awaits his chance.

Building Chain
Trivia
- This building is available to all factions in the game, except for
Warriors of Chaos,
Beastmen,
The Deceivers and
Spirit of the Jungle.
Vampire Coast have their own unique version.
Bug
- The
Chaos Dwarfs currently have no garrison at all in The Maelstrom. So without posting an army there, any solo enemy lord could capture the settlement.
- Just like with the Oak of Ages (Pacified) building, the
Daemons of Chaos have an insanely large garrison as there's a bug which gives Daemons of Chaos access to all Monogod garrisons combined, resulting in a whopping 33 units in the garrison.
