The Motherland

The Motherland screen

The Motherland is a gameplay mechanic for Kislev factions. It represents the faith of the faction's people towards the gods of Kislev, consisting of two resources: Devotion and Supporters.

Gaining Devotion[]

The player begins with 100 Devotion.

Devotion is gained by:

Devotion is lost by:

  • Fighting against other Kislevite armies

Devotion also generates Supporters, which will make their faction more dominant.

Increasing costs[]

The Devotion cost for Invocations proportionally increases with the amount of regions the player owns.

Supporters Race[]

The two main playable factions in Kislev, The Ice Court and The Great Orthodoxy, compete for Supporters to achieve political supremacy over the other. The more Supporters any of the two factions have, the more likely will the other Kislevite factions have better relations with the more-dominant faction.

This is reflected by the in-game mission, Political Supremacy.

Once either the Ice Court or the Great Orthodoxy has obtained 600 Supporters, the losing rival faction will automatically confederate with the winner, adding their forces under the victor's command.

The player can use Money (5000) or Devotion (200) to influence the race.

Coin usage costs[]

  • 5000 Treasury, 20 turn cooldown, -50 Supporters

Devotion usage costs[]

  • 200 Devotion

When playing as the Ursun Revivalists, the player instead chooses which of the two factions to support with the Supporters they gain. 50 Supporters can be sent once every 10 turns, and the Revivalists will temporarily grant a set of buffs for 5 turns when they do so.

The Daughters of the Forest faction of Kislev does not have access to the Devotion and Supporters system.

Buildings that produce Supporters[]

  • Orthodoxy Oubliette - 1
  • Orthodoxy Church - 1
  • Orthodoxy Cathedral - 2

Levels of Supporters[]

The first of the two main factions to reach the level of supporters will be permanently be granted the non-stacking sets of buffs listed below. The losing faction will be locked out of obtaining the buffs for that level, even when they eventually obtain the required amount of supporters. These levels and buffs do not apply to the Ursun Revivalists, which temporarily receive a separate set of buffs when sending their supporters instead.

  • Control: +4 (all provinces)
  • Leadership: +7 (all armies)
  • Speed: +4% (all armies)

  • Control: +5 (all provinces)
  • Leadership: +8 (all armies)

Loyalist Supremacy (600)[]

  • +100 diplomatic relations with Kislevite factions
  • Control: +6 (all provinces)
  • Leadership: +9 (all armies)
  • Speed: +6% (all armies)

Strategy[]

Your campaign will end in defeat if you allow your opponent to obtain 600 Supporters first. As you cannot Declare War on your opponent, you must ensure that you stay ahead of obtaining Supporters while slowing them down from obtaining theirs.

If you need more Devotion to prevent Chaos invasions, hunt down any Chaos-aligned armies and settlements.

You could instead risk low Devotion to "farm" more Devotion and Treasury, but to do so, you should build strong defenses for your settlements, backed by mighty armies and garrisons.
