Total War: WARHAMMER Wiki

The Old Ones' enemies shall be torn to ribbons by this mighty predator and his Skink companions.

The Shredder of Lustria (Dread Saurian) is a Lizardmen Regiments of Renown monster unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer II with The Hunter and the Beast.

Recruitment[]

  • Recruited with: Regiments of Renown Recruitment panel

Description[]

The Dread Saurian is the largest, most powerful and most feared predator living on the Lustrian continent; an echo of ancient days when huge beasts did battle with the Dragons’ ancestors for supremacy. Immense creatures, larger even than the towering Carnosaur, and perhaps even more powerful than the titanic Thunder Lizard, Dread Saurians are few in number and therefore sacred to the Lizardmen. The fury of each one prowling the foetid jungles is moderated only by the arcane power generated from its ornate ceremonial armour. Without this precaution, even the power of the Slann cannot hold the Dread Saurians back, once unleashed.

Attributes[]

  • Colossal Monster
  • Armoured: Armoured units can block damage from any source apart from Armour-Piercing damage.
  • Armour-Piercing: The damage of armour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
  • Causes Terror: This unit can cause terror, making its melee target rout for a short time. Units that cause terror are immune to terror and fear themselves.
  • Fire Whilst Moving: This unit can fire while on the move.

Unit Abilities[]

Passive Abilities[]

Difference from Dread Saurian[]

  • New Passive Ability: Dread Aversion
  • New Attribute: Encourage
  • Cost (SP & MP): 3100 → 3700
  • Upkeep: 775 → 925

Strategy[]

If the Dread Saurians were already monstrous destroyers, the Shredder of Lustria is an even bigger one. With the usual veterency melee stat buffs, a leadership debuff around itself, and the ability to encourage, there are few things that can stand against the Shredder for very long. That being said, this is a ridiculously expensive unit that can demolish anything in its way, at the expense of the rest of your army being weaker (Multiplayer at least). It is best to support the Shredder with healing magic and abilities that can keep its leadership up so it cannot be broken off the battlefield.
