The Southern Wastes is a province introduced in Total War: Warhammer III, located in the Southern Chaos Wastes.
Background[]
There is virtually no credible knowledge amongst the mortal races of the Southern Chaos Wastes. As with the Northern Wastes, this region once housed a Polar Gate of the Old Ones, and when it collapsed the entire continent was flooded with the power of Chaos. Unlike the North, however, the landmass was separated by great oceans, and thus its corruptive influence remained relatively isolated. The only non-daemons who know anything about the benighted, mysterious polar region are Archaon, who traveled to The Daemonium Hills during his ascension to Everchosen, and Oxyotl, who freely carries the fight to Chaos here as no-one else can. Neither of these sources are forthcoming about their experiences.
Both Lizardman plaques and the testimonies of various Daemons indicate, however, that the Chaos Moon Morrslieb was brought into being in the Southern Wastes, when the collapse of the Polar Gate caused a huge chunk of warpstone to be flung into orbit.
