The Wolf Lands is a province introduced in Total War: Warhammer II, in the Potion of Speed Update.

In Mortal Empires, despite the climate of all its settlements being Mountain, most of the proivince's terrain is wasteland, so armies will suffer wasteland attrition.

In The Realm of Chaos, the settlements of Darkhold and The Fortress of Vorag were moved to the Wolf Lands from The Plains of Bones, while Mount Greyhag was moved to The Blasted Wastes.

Background[]

Located in the Darklands, these remote, wind-swept plains and lonely mountains were originally the home of a multitude of goblin tribes and wolves. The goblins hunted, reared and venerated the wolves in much the same way the forest goblins do giant spiders, adopting many aspects of the creatures into their culture.

Then the Sundering occurred, breaking apart the Darklands in a series of cataclysmic earthquakes and volcanic eruptions that rendered large parts of it uninhabitable. Most of the Greenskins were forced westwards in a great migration, instigating the Goblin Wars as they fell on the Dwarfs of the World's Edge Mountains. The wolves meanwhile entered an evolutionary death drive: while their numbers drastically decreased, those that survived were the toughest, hungriest, most relentless of their kind.

Packs of these vicious beasts continue to prowl this region, ready to fall upon any unprotected traveller. Some goblins still live and even purposefully journey here, hoping to catch wolf pups, who unsurprisingly have a reputation for becoming the fiercest goblin mounts available anywhere. It is a risky business, because any Greenskin that comes here will be hunted - not just by wolves, but by the Chaos Dwarfs, who forever need more hands in their hellish factories. This is a land inhabited only be predators.
