Threaten is an option in diplomacy introduced in Total War: Warhammer III, it is not present in prior games.
How it works[]
- When making a deal, you can threaten the other faction. This increases the likelihood they will accept, particularly if you are stronger than them (more armies, more settlements, higher strength rank etc).
- However, if they do still reject the deal, it will automatically count as you declaring war on them. Additionally, threatening a faction always counts as treachery, which worsens your reliability rating and harms relations with the faction you threatened, even if they accept the deal. As such, it's best to use this option carefully.
