Treasure hunts are a new type of event introduced in Total War: Warhammer II. Instead of choosing to colonize a ruined settlement, an army/Lord can choose to treasure hunt. This brings up an event window with some text, and a puzzle to solve, after which a reward is given. An army cannot colonize a settlement on the same turn they treasure hunt.
Treasure hunts can also be done in the ocean: at shipwrecks, sea corpses, skull reefs, fell cargo, mysterious islands and remnants of battle. Some of these also present options, while others merely have an instant effect. Some even require the player to win a battle.
For a list of treasure hunts that have been removed from the game, see Treasure hunts/removed.
