Treasure hunts are a new type of event introduced in Total War: Warhammer II. Instead of choosing to colonize a ruined settlement, an army/Lord can choose to treasure hunt instead. This brings up an event window with a "choose your own adventure" style, presenting several options to the player as well as a narrative to go along with it. An army cannot colonize a settlement on the same turn they treasure hunt.
Treasure hunts can also be done in the ocean: at shipwrecks, sea corpses, skull reefs, mysterious islands and remnants of battle. Some of these also present options, while others merely have an instant effect.
