Unusual locations are a type of building introduced in Total War: Warhammer III with Patch 5.2.
Unusual locations are a type of building that uses a foreign slot, like Skaven Under-cities,
Vampire Coast Pirate Coves, Cults of Chaos and Silent Sanctums of the
Ghosts of Pahuax. These buildings can appear in Immortal Empires through random events which add them, and can either, depending on the specific building, hinder or help the player. For example, the Healer's Camp is pretty useful for all races, unlike the Sewer Dwelling, that, aside from the unique item, only has negative effects.
The locations in which these buildings appear are random, and might appear in any of the players' cities (with several exceptions like the Silver Pinnacle Enclave, The Counting House or Beached Black Ark). As of January 2025 these unusual locations are only available to order races: Bretonnia,
Dwarfs,
Grand Cathay,
High Elves,
Kislev and
The Empire. They are almost always available to all factions in a race, except for the Grand Illuminator's Residence which is unique to
Reikland. Not every of those six races has access to all of the unusual locations. For example, Bretonnia doesn't have access to the Grail Knight Grave, Dwarfs don't have access to the Dwarf Mineshaft, and the Homeless Shelter isn't available for Grand Cathay, Dwarfs or High Elves.
There are other requirements for some to spawn, having low public order or low Skaven corruption. For a full list of requirements, check the full list of unusual locations in Immortal Empires linked below.

Notes[]
- Even though seen as neutral or order aligned factions,
Wood Elves,
Lizardmen and
Tomb Kings don't have access to unusual locations, like all evil and chaos-aligned factions.
