Update 3.0 is an update for Total War: Warhammer III, which released on 13 April 2023. The previous update was Update 2.4.0.
This patch was released alongside many things; the Forge of the Chaos Dwarfs DLC, and the Mirror of Madness and Ulrika Magdova FLCs.
Changes not in the patch notes[]
- The icons of the Tide of Death and Tide of Pox abilities available to the Packmaster were switched to match the ability correctly, Tide of Pox is now using the green icon and Death using the purple one.
Skirmish vs A.I.[]
- The three unique summonable cavalry used by Cylostra Direfin could previously be added as units in Skirmish vs A.I. They have been removed, thus are only available as summons now like in campaign.
- Added Feral Bears and Feral Ice Bears to Kislev for use in Skirmish vs A.I.
Immortal Empires[]
- The Big Fort landmark was moved from Sabre Mountain (Path to the East) to Karak Vrag (Gash Kadrak).
- The Graves of the Dragons and Purified Graves of the Dragons landmarks were moved from Darkhold (The Howling Wastes) to The Bone Gulch (The Plain of Bones).
- With the Chaos Dwarfs being added to the map, the Eyebiter faction was removed from Immortal Empires.
- The Drippin Fangs were added to Immortal Empires, previously being a Realm of Chaos-only faction.
- The Gash Kadrak province is now a four settlement province, with Karak Vrag as capital.
- Due to Gash Kadrak becoming bigger, the Ancient Giant Lands is now only a two-settlement province.
- Granite Spikes was moved from the Mountains of Mourn (Path to the east province) to the Northern Chaos Wastes to accomodate The Warhost of Zharr, leaving the Tusked Sunz with one less starting city.
- The Wyrm Pass province was removed, with its settlements now part of either the Ivory Road or Gnoblar Country.
- The Mount Thug settlement, previously part of Wyrm Pass, has been renamed to Shambletown.
- The Mouth of Ruin province has been renamed to Scalded Delta.
- The Fort Dorznye-Vort settlement was added in the Dark Lands, just like the Vale of Woe settlement. The Falls of Doom was moved further south, and due to the addition of the Vale of Woe, The Gates of Zharr settlement is now part of The Wolf Lands province.
- Two new landmarks were added that are not related to the Chaos Dwarfs, Dawn's Harbour in Fortress of Dawn (Dawn's Landing) and the Corrupted Standing Stones in Shiyama's Rest (Nongchang Basin).
- Several older factions got access to more landmarks than previously was available to them. For example, all Monogods now got access to the Tower of the Bloodytooth, Golden Tower of the Gods (only Tzeentch had access before) and The Chamber of Visions, whilst Kislev received access to the Morceaux Valley Orchards building chain in Bordeleaux.
Starting position changes[]
- Grimgor's 'Ardboyz were moved from Sabre Mountain (Path to the East) to Eagle Eyries (Gash Kadrak). Due to this change, the Sabreskin were moved to Sabre Mountain.
- Goldtooth once again starts in the Great Hall of Greasus (Ivory Road), whilst maintaining his presence in Karak Krakaten.
- The Fleshgreeders are down to one settlement only, due to the addition of The Warhost of Zharr, being only a minor early enemy for the Heralds of the Tempest.
- The Fortress of Eyes (Stonesky Foothills) is now owned by Khazag instead of the Imperial Wardens to provide an early enemy for Zhatan the Black.
- The starts of the Sons of the Mountain and Crossed Clubs were shuffled around, leaving the Vale of Titans (Bone Road) as a ruin, and occupying more settlements closer to Goldtooth.
- The Lazarghs are now down to one city only, Shambletown in Gnoblar Country.
- To accomodate the addition of the Overlords of Zharrduk and Servants of the Conclave, the Dark Land Orcs were moved south and lost a lot of their cities. The Moon Howlerz were also moved, now occupying Mount Silverspear which were previously ruins.
- The Slaves of Zharr are still on the map, but lost several cities, and are now a starting enemy for the Disciples of Hashut.
- Due to adding the Drippin Fangs on the map, the Lahmian Sisterhood are now down to one settlement, Silver Pinnacle.
- Goromadny Tribe was moved to the southeast, now occupying Karak Vlag and the new Fort Dwarrslav settlement. Two of their old settlements, Yetchitch and Frozen Landing are now ruins because of that move.
The Realm of Chaos[]
- The Blasted Wastes, The Plain of Zharr and The Howling Wastes were shuffled around, with the Plain of Zharr now in the northeast and The Blasted Wastes to the north of The Howling Wastes. Thus most settlements in all three are now in a different one.
- The Desolation of Drakenmoor settlement was added to the west of Howling Rock, with the Drippin Fangs as starting owner.
- A completely new province was added to the east of Black Water, previously being inaccessible mountains. The region is called The Silver Road and is occupied by Karak Azul, a faction that wasn't on the map before this patch.
- With shuffling settlements and provinces around, the Mines of Gorgoth was moved to accomodate the Overlords of Zharrduk, pushing Clan Krizzor to Karak Krakaten in the Ivory Road and removing Clan Mordkin who were previously occupying that settlement.
- The Plain of Bones province was added to accomodate Knights of Caledor's addition, getting two new settlements but also taking two from The Wolf Lands.
- The Graves of the Dragons landmark was added to the campaign in Darkhold, previously being an Immortal Empires-only landmark.
- The Gnoblar Country province was added at the locations that previously were the Howling Wastes and The Haunted Forest. The Haunted Forest is now an one-settlement province to the east of Gnoblar Country, occupied by Caravan of Blue Roses.
- The City of Tepok's Spawn is now a one-settlement province called The Dragon Isles, previoulsy being part of The Haunted Forest.
Starting position changes[]
- Grimgor's 'Ardboyz, Caravan of Blue Roses and Knights of Caledor all found their way to the Realm of Chaos campaign, serving as enemies for the Chaos Dwarfs.
- Previously owning 10 settlements, The Dark Land Orcs lost all but two of them due to the addition of the Chaos Dwarfs on the map.
- Clan Gritus now also starts in Kraz Und, and not just Kurak Peak and Seep-Gore.
- Moon Howlerz were moved a bit more east, getting some different settlements near Imrik.
- The Thunderguts lost Pigbarter, but still occupy two other cities.
- Previously owning The Sentinels settlement in the Dark Lands, Eyebiter now starts as a horde faction just west of their previous settlement.
