Total War: WARHAMMER Wiki

WH3 Ursun

The shackled Ursun stares down Prince Yuri.

Ursun is the patron god of Kislev, a bear god that represents might, endurance, and determination - qualities each Kislevite holds dear. In Total War: Warhammer III, he serves as the primary end goal of both the Prologue and Realm of Chaos campaigns.

The Lost God[]

Ursun's roar kept winter at bay every year, allowing crops to grow in Kislev and its people to survive longer.

Prince Yuri is sent by Tzarina Katarin to the North to seek out Ursun, who has fallen silent. Led by what's apparently his voice, Yuri eventually finds Ursun after falling to Khornate influence, shackled deep within the Realm of Chaos. Be'lakor, the first of the daemon princes, has corrupted Yuri and manipulates him into shooting Ursun in the snout, renouncing the Bear God and opening the world up for invasion.

The Realm of Chaos[]

Ursun was not dead, as the Kislevites erroneously thought: he was incapacitated, chained in the Forge of Souls for Be'lakor to harness. With the Advisor attempting to manipulate the powers of the east to gain a drop of Ursun's blood, several factions attempted to find Ursun and use him for various goals:

  • Grand Cathay seeks to use him (or at least his dying essence) to find Shen Zoo, the Dragons' lost sister.
  • Khorne seeks to claim his skull as an offering to the Lord of Murder.
  • Nurgle seeks to use his corpse to incubate powerful diseases.
  • Slaanesh seeks to feed on the mourning of the Kislevites.
  • Tzeentch seeks to use his eyes for Kairos Fateweaver to see the present.
  • Daemons of Chaos seek to claim his powers to elevate the Daemon Prince or Be'lakor into a fifth Chaos God.
  • The Ogre Kingdoms seek to sacrifice his body to feed the Great Maw and stop their innate hunger.
  • Kislev seeks to save Ursun and stop winter and the Daemons of Chaos from destroying Kislev.

When Ursun roars in pain, Chaos Rifts emerge, showing the player that the time to build their forces and territories had ended, and to send an army to claim a daemon's soul in the Realm of Chaos.

Ursun will ultimately die before any of the factions reach the Forge of Souls, and Be'lakor will begin to absorb his power. Upon defeating Be'lakor, the winning faction will have their way with the Bear God's remains.

If playing as the Warriors of Chaos in The Realm of Chaos, Ursun was saved by Kislev and has returned to the pantheon of Kislev. The chaos rifts left in his wake remain however, and can be opened again to teleport around the map.
