Total War: WARHAMMER Wiki
Vermintide

Vermintide is an endgame scenario in Immortal Empires. It can be set to fire on player's Long Victory or on a random turn in between the limits specified at the start.

Description[]

It was foolish to be worried about any Skaven gatherings. Other than a few scattered scouts, nothing has changed on the surface. And yet... and yet... Claw marks where there shouldn't be, scurrying sounds in the night, the ominous glow of Warpstone from distant caves and Underway entrances... something is afoot.

Effects[]

This scenario has two stages:

It Begins?[]

  • Spawns a large number of Skaven Under-Cities in random cities filled to the brim with buildings.
  • Gives major Skaven factions (Clan Moulder, Clan Rictus, Clan Mors, Clan Pestilens, Clan Skryre, and Clan Eshin) two armies with high tier Skaven units. Previously destroyed factions are revived at their capital.
  • Skaven factions that were confederated will not respawn.
  • Revived factions are neutral to begin with. They have access to their legendary lords and heroes.
  • Gives the player a unique mission with a battle location marker. If the player interacts with an army with the battle marker and succesfully defeats the Skaven army in the battle, they'll receive a free army consisting of: a lord appropriate for the faction, 1 Empire Captain, 1 Waystalker, 1 Witch Hunter, 1 Bright Wizard, 1 Thane, 2 Hammerers, 2 Wildwood Rangers, 2 Irondrakes, 2 Outriders (Grenade Launcher), and 1 Steam Tank, regardless of what faction the player plays. So for example, it's possible for a Wood Elf faction to gain a Steam tank this way.
    • The lord starts at a pretty low level, but all five heroes start at level 25, allowing the player to immediately assign a large number of skill points.

It Begins[]

  • After ten more turns have elapsed with an extra roll for spawning Under-Cities every turn, four full high tier armies are spawned next to each major Skaven faction leader. All of them become hostile to the player.
  • So long as the faction leader is alive, they will be given command of one of the four armies.
  • If they were previously wiped out, they will respawn again at their capital.

Strategy[]

The Under-Cities can cost a lot to remove, and for several turns you'll get a large number of discovered cities for factions that expanded a lot. You'll need a sizable sum to remove them all. The spawned armies are pretty strong and will require a strong army to counter. If the faction was previously destroyed, it's best to quickly kill them again to prevent them from gaining a foothold.

The army in the battle of the unique mission related to this endgame scenario is pretty strong, and requires a full army to beat it. Don't go in unprepared or face the consequences as you cannot retreat from the battle.

Trivia[]

  • The free army is a direct reference to Warhammer: Vermintide 2, another game based on the Warhammer Fantasy universe where players control a team of heroes consisting of the Dwarf Bardin, Wood Elf Kerillian, Empire captain Kruber, Witch Hunter Saltzpyre and the Bright Wizard Sienna.
  • The steam tank may be a reference to one of the Witch Hunter’s (Saltzpyre) voice lines in Vermintide’s A Quiet Drink event, where he drunkenly states he dreamt of being a steam tank driver.
