Although gradually becoming obsolete due to considerable advances in technology, there's still something inherently reliable about a horse-drawn chariot literally brimming with death.

War Wagons are an Reikland Empire missile chariot unit introduced in Total War: Warhammer II with The Hunter and the Beast.

Recruitment[ | ]

Description[ | ]

Imperial War Wagons are extremely heavy versions of a chariot, in effect a mobile armoured battle tower pulled by two sturdy warhorses, where the high walls of the tower protect its crew from attacks from the ground. They are movable platforms for either transporting Imperial soldiers across the battlefield or providing a vantage point for Archers, Crossbowmen, and Handgunners to shoot the enemy. A War Wagon’s crew may also be armed with a variety of experimental arms courtesy of the Imperial Gunnery School’s arsenal. War Wagons can fit a piece of artillery onto their towers, so speed can be combined with battle-winning firepower.

  • Armoured: Armoured units can block damage from any source apart from Modifier icon armour piercingArmour-Piercing damage.
  • Armour-Piercing Missiles: The damage of Modifier icon armour piercingarmour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
  • Fire Whilst Moving: This unit can fire while on the move.

The War Wagon is a missile chariot that is meant to ride around peppering the enemy with their armor piercing shots before ramming through to break up clumps of infantry. They have abysmal melee defence, so even hound units can deal a lot of damage to them. It is not a bad idea to keep a unit of Empire Knights or Pistoliers nearby, just to help stave off enemy light cavalry or harassers.
