Warhost of the Apocalypse is a playable Warriors of Chaos faction introduced in Total War: Warhammer III. It is led by Archaon the Everchosen.

Warhost of the Apocalypse requires the Chaos Warriors Race Pack DLC.

How they play[]

  • Dark Fortresses: Establish bases of power to vassalise and recruit followers of Chaos.
  • Gifts of Chaos: Purchase god-aligned units and bonuses aligned to strengthen your faction in various ways.
  • Warbands: Gather warriors and upgrade them into more powerful units.
  • Path to Glory: Upgrade your lords and heroes, dedicate them to a Chaos God, and even transform them into Daemon Princes
  • Souls: A unique resource gained by fighting non-Daemonic factions
  • Dark Authority: Each Lord has separate authority levels over marked and undivided units, conferring bonuses.
  • Eye of the Gods: A recurring dilemma which occurs more frequently the more Gifts of Chaos you have.
  • Units: Lightly armoured marauders backed up by elite heavy-armoured warriors and huge monsters. Most factions have few ranged options.

Fortified starting settlement (which you need to take from Exquisite Pain), Warhost of the Apocalypse has a lot of options on where to expand. You can go East to forcibly confederate Heralds of the Tempest (The Heralds of the Tempest often engages in war against The Maggot Host and/or Grimgor's Ardboyz so try to rush to ensure that they aren't defeated by Tamurkhan and/or Grimgor making you either have to cause a rebellion in the respective starting settlement or ignore having Kholek for that campaign) and Puppets of Misrule, go South to raze Kislev while confederating The Ecstatic Legions and The Fecundites or go West and confederate Legion of the Gorequeen, Shadow Legion and The Decedant Host. Most of the Warrior of Chaos factions are very likely to stay alive until mid-end/game.

You should focus on vassalizing any aggressive or Chaos-aligned faction on the way, to ensure that you have a surplus supply of Souls per turn, since even if defeated and vassalized, factions such as Grimgor's Ardboyz still keep the same amount of aggressiveness (Just be careful that they don't occupy your Dark Fortresses). Try not to vassalize factions that spread plagues that still harm you such as Nurgle factions or Skaven ones. The Immortal Empires world is an oyster and this faction is certainly well-equipped enough to raze and destroy the oyster.
