Warlock Engineer is a Skaven melee heroic infantry unit in Total War: Warhammer II. Marching to war with magical machinations; outrageous and heretical, but most of all deadly. The Warlock Engineer is a Wizard Hero type. He is an armour-piercing spellcaster that is in battle especially good at boosting ranged units.
The notorious Warlock Engineers of Clan Skryre are the artificers of Skaven society, blending arcane sorceries with technology in an insane and mind-boggling mix. For the other races of the world it is hard to differentiate or define where the science stops and the power of magic begins, although such delineation never occurs to Skaven. Warlock Engineers see the two elements as one and the same - machines and sorcery blended together to create impressive killing power. The sorcerer-inventors often go to war carrying many of their latest devices. From hand-held weapons such as warlock muskets or poisoned wind globes of devastating potency, to blades powered by crackling Warpstone energies, the anarchic arsenal of the Warlock Engineers is both varied and destructive.
- ↑ Armour-Piercing: The damage of armour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.

Equipped with the Lore of Ruin, his spells can buff your frontline, slow down dangerous flying units, deal massive AOE against enemy characters, or simply smite the enemy with warp lightning from above. The Warlock Engineer has much to offer to any Skaven army, but is at his most useful when going for a heavy ranged build. His skills are geared towards improving artillery and missile units, giving them more speed, missile damage and ammunition as well as reducing their reload times with one of his active abilities. Embedding him will also improve that army´s movement range on the campaign map by up to 25% if properly skilled. Lastly, his ability to sabotage enemy armies and reduce their movement range makes him the ideal counter to pesky raiders using marching stance to stay out of your reach, or to tie down fleeing enemy Forces.
