Total War: WARHAMMER Wiki

Warpstone Desert is a province introduced in Total War: Warhammer III.

Background[]

The Warpstone Desert lies at the western fringes of Grand Cathay, not far from the Great Maw. It is a desolate wasteland containing large amounts of warpstone. Caravans crossing the desert must use mirrored shields to avoid exposure to the unearthly mineral and the accompanying chaotic mutation. Despite the danger, Cathayan Alchemists from Shang-Yang make regular expeditions into the desert, heavily shielded, to search for rare ores and elements which they use to create magical artefacts.

Zhao Ming is the master of Shang-Yang, a bustling metropolis of trade and magic. From here he pursues his fervent passion for alchemy, and watches ever westwards for threats emerging over the Mountains of Mourn. Also in the west, in the Stone Lands, stands the Tower of Ashshair, a fortress which in 2509 IC was unsuccessfully assaulted by the Chaos forces of the Dolgan Chaos Sorcerer Sayl the Faithless as part of the horde under the command of the Champion of Nurgle known as Tamurkhan the Maggot Lord.
