Norscans are in constant conflict with one another. If too much time passes without a battle, the inhabitants of the north get restless, be they man, beast or monstrous mutant. Any extended lull in the killing sometimes means the communities of tribesmen gradually increase in size to a point when raiding becomes a necessity rather than a pastime, carried out against fellow Norscans as well as the Old Worlders of the south. Once such a point is reached, an unruly mob can quickly become a large gathering of warriors, with little on their minds other than subsisting by taking what they need from any weak nearby targets.
