- This page applies to TWW3. In TWW1 and TWW2, Warriors of Chaos are a horde faction and can't settle.
The Warriors of Chaos have a different settlement system to other races, in Total War: Warhammer III.
How it works[]
- When Warriors of Chaos take a settlement, their settlement options are to sack, raze, gift to a vassal, or colonize.
- Most settlements will become a small outpost when colonized, with 2 building slots and limited building options.
- Certain settlements on the campaign map are special
Dark Fortresses which have the full range of Warriors of Chaos buildings available. - Conquering certain Norscan Homeland Capital settlements, will automatically make an associated Norscan tribe your vassal, providing they're not already someone else's vassal.
- It is advisable to raze most settlements, or gift them to your vassal, aside from Dark Fortresses.

Immortal Empires[]
There are 40 Dark Fortresses in the Immortal Empires campaign (26 are also Norscan capitals), spread throughout the world, but mostly in the Northern and Southern Chaos Wastes and Norsca as part of The Old World. A rare few are found in the Far East, The Dark Lands and Naggaroth.
There are no Dark Fortresses in The Southlands, Lustria and Ulthuan.
