Zorn Uzkul is a province introduced in Total War: Warhammer III.
Background[]
Zorn Uzkul is a vast and inhospitable plateau in the northern Dark Lands where the air is frigid and thin, and the dusty ground is littered with the wind-scoured bones of the ancient dead. The mineral wealth is rich here, but the earth and stone to some seem tainted and unclean.
It was here during the Age of Ancestors that Dwarves first emerged into the lands of the east. Those that chose to stay and colonize these vast plains were separated from their western kin during the Great Catastrophe, and through desparation turned to the dark god Hashut for aid and succour. Thus were the first Chaos Dwarfs born. Uzkulak, the major settlement here and the most northerly of the race's soot-choked strongholds, was built before the rupture. It is a strange and secretive place, a bustling slave port that masks an ancient inner city that is little more than a heavily garrisoned tomb. The forbidden, lower levels of Uzkulak are shunned, even by its masters, and to be consigned to its depths is a punishment reserved for oath-breakers and blasphemers as the worst fate the Chaos Dwarfs can bestow.
Most of the Chaos Dwarfs, however, chose to settle themselves further south in the lower reaches of the Darklands. Even for them, Zorn Uzkul is considered an accursed place.
